“Hello, may I take your picture for Yamashiros?”

Meet Antonio and Anna. Like all couples who are all about having fun and loving each other and I knew these were all about that. Antonio reached out to me and had an idea to do a surprise engagement at their favorite restaurant Yamashiro’s in LA. What was cool about chatting with Antonio is I always had this vibe where he was just an old friend of mine and was easy to talk to. Now like most of us men who makes a surprise plan. I knew Antonio had the confidence that everything will go smoothly. Well plans normally don’t go as planned and have to go along with the punches.

Now when the day arrived for the big surprise. Antonio and I were messaging each other. Now there was never an official plan on how. He just knew he wanted to pop the big question right in front of the restaurant. So as he’s driving up towards Yamashiro’s he had this plan for me to act like I “worked” at Yamashiro’s and to ask them when they pull up to take their picture and as I showed his now fiance the picture. She would turn around and would be on one knee. Easy right..

Well as I waited I got pretty nervous. So I started practicing my lines. “HEY! I work at Yamashiro’s”. No no no.. “Hello, may I take your picture for Yamashiro’s?” No that sounds terrible… Patiently and nervously waiting for them I see them pull up. Valet opens their door and they start walking towards the entrance. I sneak up behind them and now I don’t remember what I said.. Nor do I remember if I made any sense. But I got my lines out and they stood in front of the entrance… I snap a shot and I felt weird when I said “Let me show you the picture” But regardless I grabbed her attention. Showed her the picture with her back towards Antonio. Now I don’t know why but I thought Anna was very sweet for asking me if I had a business card. I noticed Antonio was ready to go and I took a step or two back and started snapping. Anna turns around shocked, confused, just totally having a outer body experience while she’s collecting what’s going on. Through all that she didn’t mess a step and said “Yes!” Thank you Antonio and Anna. This was one of my highlights of 2018.
